Linux version of AvosLocker ransomware targets VMware ESXi servers

AvosLocker is the latest ransomware gang that has added support for encrypting Linux systems to its recent malware variants, specifically targeting VMware ESXi virtual machines. While we couldn’t find what targets were attacked using this AvosLocker ransomware Linux variant, BleepingComputer knows of at least one victim that got hit with a $1 million ransom demand.

Log4j software bug: CISA issues emergency directive to federal agencies

Casual computer users have probably never heard of this logging software, but it’s used across the entire internet. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency issued an emergency directive on Friday that ordered federal civilian executive branch agencies to address a major security flaw in widely used logging software that could be exploited by cybercriminals.
