Interface and filing system. Beautiful and usable design.

OpenMediaVault comes with little changes made to the operating system by utilizing Debian packages. It is designed to use a web based interface for management and customization. OpenMediaVault uses file based services such as CIFS (Samba) and NFS as part of its core. In addition, SAN support is available by using iSCSI block level data access. Through an application programming interface (API), OpenMediaVault can be extended to support additional applications as plugins. It is written in Ext JS. A core set of plugins is provided by the developer. The plugins can be installed in the web interface. Additional plugins are also available from independent developers.

Network Gateway Server. Router/Firewall.

pfSense® software is a free, open source customized distribution of FreeBSD specifically tailored for use as a firewall and router that is entirely managed via web interface. In addition to being a powerful, flexible firewalling and routing platform, it includes a long list of related features and a package system allowing further expandability without adding bloat and potential security vulnerabilities to the base distribution.

Basic Functions. Better way to protect your business.

Firewall

A firewall is a system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be implemented in both hardware and software, or a combination of both.

State Table

The firewall’s state table maintains information on your open network connections. The pfSense software is a stateful firewall, by default all rules are stateful.

Most firewalls lack the ability to finely control your state table. The pfSense software has numerous features allowing granular control of your state table, thanks to the abilities of FreeBSD’s ported version of pf.

Network Address Translation (NAT)

A NAT (Network Address Translation or Network Address Translator) is the virtualization of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. NAT helps improve security and decrease the number of IP addresses an organization needs.

Multi-WAN

Multi-WAN functionality enables the use of multiple Internet connections, with load balancing and/or failover, for improved Internet availability and bandwidth usage distribution.

Server Load Balancing

Server load balancing is used to distribute load between multiple servers. This is commonly used with web servers, mail servers, and others. Servers that fail to respond to ping requests or TCP port connections are removed from the pool.

DHCP Server and Relay

The pfSense software includes both DHCP Server and Relay functionality

Web Interface and filing system. Easy and intuitive design.

pfSense can be configured and upgraded through a web-based interface.
